Field Intensive Spend 4-days and 3-nights exploring the core study of Wildlife Tracking. In this intensive field expedition the Trackers Rangers Guild opens up an entirely new way of seeing and experiencing the natural world. While learning key tools and routines of tracking, the class intensively maps animal movements around our camp. We get to know the life stories of individual bears, deer, cougar and all the other inhabitants around us.

This entire camp is about how truth is stranger than fiction. Like Sherlock Holmes we peel back the layers of the mystery, where seemingly insignificant details become clues that reveal an everyday web life and death.

Practice the Fundementals

The Rangers Guild brings you some of the best trackers in the field. They don't simply lecture, instead you walk the trails them. The instructors push your ability to see, helping you actually see the subtle sign of all the wildlife around you. We teach that only looking at footprints in the mud and sand is a trap and that tracking is a skill best learned and developed through all terrains; from moss to leaf litter, from meadow grass to woody debris. If you've ever taken a tracking class from another school you may be surprised by how much more quickly your ability develops in this intensive.

Field Guides vs Field Experience

Naturalist knowledge is important but even more critical is the actual experience to back it up. The Rangers Guild takes a page from the book of the ancient hunter. We hold trailing and finding animal as the ultimate goal in tracking. We go beyond pictures in a field guide and map the habits of real world animals: bear, cougar, deer, coyote and more. As a tracker you begin to bare witness to the intense stories and actual ecological relationships of predator and prey, territory, mating and foraging in the quest for survival.
